cheesygirl: (Wes hero spikesloveslave)
I meant to do the favorite fanfic writer thing starting yesterday, but I forgot. I was pretty much a big lazy blob of goo yesterday for what it's worth.

Anyhoo, I'll mention two writers for yesterday and today and a bonus one to make up for starting this late. I'm sure all these people will be mentioned by others, but the more recs maybe the more they'll get read that could only be a good thing. Okay.

[livejournal.com profile] lovesbitca. I read some of her Spike/Willow fics a couple years ago when I was a Spike fanatic. Then she wrote Spike/Wesley/Faith, which I read just as I was getting into my Wesley phase. Did you know you made me like Faith, bitca? Really was indifferent to her before then, but you made me want to get to know her more. Then there came the masterpiece of [livejournal.com profile] secretary_fic, written with her uber-talented co-horts [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt, [livejournal.com profile] allegraslade, and [livejournal.com profile] darling_effect. That fic alone made Wes/Faith my favorite pairing. Guh and then guh with a side order of guh to go, please. Oh, and the Wes/Faith babyfic "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle" broke my heart into tiny shards. Oh my God. If y'all haven't read that one, even if you don't like babyfic or W/F, go read it, you have to. I insist!

[livejournal.com profile] thebratqueen. I think I read bits of her fic in years past but only recently have I read a lot as I've gotten more into Wes/Angel fic over the past year. The first of hers I remember reading was "Protocol", her Wes/Angel fantasy AU fic (with a kitten! It's got a kitten in it too! ::dies::), which is still a WIP, and I started reading it and didn't stop one night until I was all caught up. I'm still trying to read all the Wes/Angel she's written but there's so much of it (yay!). She writes some of the most genuine Angel/Wes out there.

[livejournal.com profile] herself_nyc. My first intro to the world of LJ was reading Herself's LJ as she was posting new chapters of her Spuffy "Bittersweets" verse. She was one of the first fanfic authors I ever read and enjoyed. I don't read much Spuffy these days, but her stories still live in my head. She's also written some of the best original characters in fanfic. I know I wasn't the only one who fell in love with Buffy and Spike's Jemima. Her Spuffy often isn't pretty, and there's much struggle and angst (along with the super-hot smut) which is one of the reasons it works so well.

I don't know if I've adequately expressed how and why I love these writers as much as I do and how much their fics have meant to me, but please do give them a try if you haven't already. More authors later this week!
