I've decided to make a list of my favorite words. Oddly enough, these are words I like to hear or say. Odd, because I'm not much of a talker. Not that I don't like to talk, but when I do I don't do it very well. Anyone who's had any experience conversing with me knows that I often pause in the middle of sentences to find the right words (and often come up empty), I stumble over pronunciations--even when I know perfectly well how to say it--and I mumble. How I ever passed Speech 101 I'll never know. This list will be on-going, as I think of other words that I like. They won't be in any particular order and may or may not have an explanation to go with them, but I will start with my absolute favorite word ever:

Buttercream. Say it. It's a gorgeous word for a gorgeous thing. Feels good on your tongue when you say it, and when you eat it. It's super nummy too. Now that's a good word. Here's what I've got so far:

Apple
Ticket
Pulse
Cake
Box
Milk
Secret
Tender
Palm
Cup
Rock
Morsel
Crinkle

Feel free to add your favorites in comments. If they click with me I'll add them to my list.

I always like longer words with lots of syllables. Can't think of any right now of course.

Hee! That's why I'm making this list on-going, because when I sat down to make a list I couldn't think of anything!

I have become a big fan of cake. It has great ability to be a funny word, with the two K sounds, and Lily Tomlin did a very funny bit that involved someone screaming about cake. I've recently come to enjoy it again through Jonathan Coulton's closing credits song for the game Portal -- the crazy AI GLaDOS keeps promising the player cake if they do each thing they do, and the cake is always a lie. I've never played the game, but cake comes into the song, too.

Great word.

I just learned a new one, wuzzle, a verb. It's what you do when you tear the sheets off the bed and pile them up to wash them. Which reminds me I need to wuzzle the sheets tonight.
