Keith Olbermann wins my Best Person in the World Award. You're in the book, Keith, no doubt. Marry me?

He's lost some shine for me. He want on "The View" today and admitted he doesn't vote. He explained that's the way he keeps himself objective as a reporter. Sorry, bud, one of your responsibilities as a citizen is to vote, in my opinion. I know he has a job as a political pundit, but now I just feel like telling him to "Shut up! You don't vote. You can't criticize." That's just my opinion.

I call BS on that - I'm not convinced he didn't make that up for some drama. I can imagine him spoiling his ballot though in disgust.

I watched the clip from a link on the Huffington Post. He said it. I don't know if he's lying or not, but he's an ass for insisting that it was true. I have to go by what the man said himself. He may come out a day or two from now and say he was lying for the fun of it, but he didn't *appear* to be lying.

Oh, no, I did see it as well - I didn't mean that I didn't believe that he didn't say it. I'm just thinking that, much as I adore him, he's a total drama queen at times and this may well be some bizarre way for him to cause some drama.

Actually, you know what someone should do? YouTube a WPITW featuring him for this.

He seemed pretty subdued to me. I like him fine, but after hearing him say this, I have a very hard time with him having dramatic rants about the way other people are voting and then saying that he doesn't vote himself, "As a symbolic gesture" of his neutrality. He's like those crazy crazy lefty friends of mine who say,"Oh, you voted? Do you really think it's going to matter? The world's in the crapper. All politicians are the same. They're out to destroy the world!!!" Blah blah blah. Oh, and this symbolic gesture of his neutrality isn't working. He's no more neutral then the loons at Fox News. Of course, I prefer to here his lunatic ravings to theirs.

He's not the only reporter who does this in either the US or the UK. I suppose it's a luxury those folks feel they can afford because they've never lived in a situation where it was a right denied to them.

That bothers me. We live in a situation where voting is a right and a privilege. There are reporters and citizens around the world where that is not the case, who risk their lives to report it and risk their lives to try to vote. I konw it's his right and others to sit out, but again, I have a hard time with someone getting hot and bothered about the news, but not fully participating as a citizen.

I could certainly understand if he followed the same sort of restrictions that are placed on federal workers in terms of participating in campaigns, and/or making donations thereto, but to not vote at all?

Dude needs a reality check. I'm willing to bet he'll be getting some disappointed mail from fans.

Yeah, the federal workers are still allowed and encouraged to vote!

I'm sure he is going to get mail from disappointed fans. Really. Think about it, Keith. How many people in California didn't get out to vote against Prop 8 because they figured, "Oh well, it's probably going to pass anyway."

I've got to stop now. I've spent too much time spamming in [livejournal.com profile] cheesygirl's LJ.

This appears to be all over my f-list. I'm loving the sentiment but am disappointed to hear he didn't vote. Although I guess you could argue he didn't think it should be something people vote on - which I agree with.
