Ten/Fred crossover drabble

“But you can’t leave Pylea, Doctor. It’s impossible.” Fred insisted.

“Impossible?” The Doctor smiled. “Oh, I don’t know. Seems the older I get the less I believe in that word.”

Fred shook her head and resumed her frantic scribbling. “No, it’s a real word alright. Im-possible.” She giggled nervously. “Escaping Pylea would be like saying you could reverse the polarity of the neutron flow!”

The Doctor frowned. “Really? Are you sure about that neutron flow thing? Because I could have sworn I once… but never mind. I swear to you Fred, I can get you—us—out of here and back to your world.” He held out his hand to her. “Safe and sound, back in L.A. Or back home to… Texas, am I right?”

Fred’s large brown eyes widened. “Texas? Back home to my mama and daddy?”

“Yup. Could get you home just in time for Sunday dinner, if you like.” The Doctor smiled warmly.

There was a kindness and a trustworthiness in his face that made Fred forget the word impossible herself. She took his hand.

“My mama makes the best fried chicken in the state of Texas!” she declared.

“Mmmmm, Texas it is then!” The Doctor decreed.
